Ioannis
Selimas and Peter Cazley make
up the production duo known
as JOSEL & PEDRO. Originally
working on several production
projects individually, they
combined their unique sounds
in what has become a partnership
of production quality.
JOSEL (Ioannis
Selimas) was born in the small
town of Kenourgio, on the
western side of Greece. His
first experience in DJing
came in 1992. This initial
interest in dj'ing was sparked
by the acid house and deeper
trance sound which at the
time was thriving in the edm
underground scene. As his
dj skills and love for music
increased, he began to throw
his own house parties and
had residencies in small bars
and clubs in his home town.
Visiting
the UK to study, he was introduced
to the progressive house scene,
which up until this day has
defined his sound. At the
moment, apart from studying
for a PhD, he is producing
music as JOSEL (of JOSEL &
PEDRO) and runs the AMBER
night in Manchester with PEDRO
and DJ Nikita.
PEDRO (Peter
Cazley) was born in Leicester,
England, in 1976. He began
DJing in 1994 and one year
later would play at Luxor
alongside Mark Younghead of
MYNC Project. This provided
a new experience of the house
music scene as did the influence
of Jeff Allen & T. Baron
of Fresh FM and Steve of BPM
Records. At the age of 20,
he moved to the southeast
of England to study at university,
eventually meeting Josel,
who shared the same love and
passion for music. After graduating
from university, Pedro moved
to Manchester, where he has
continued to expand his musical
interest.
Within a
month of sending out their
first promotional demo, Josel
and Pedro had three tracks
signed to NYC based Acute
Recordings and another track
signed to a German based record
label for a CD compilation.
The first A-list dj to grab
a hold of Josel and Pedro's
promo work was Hernan Cattaneo,
who featured three of their
tracks in his world-wide successful
radio show.
It's not
often that you will find producers
having so much success with
sending out their first promotional
demo. While remaining modest
and thankful of their recent
success, this success has
come well deserved as they
welcome fans with open arms
who have been catching on
to the quality and sound that
they form as Josel and Pedro. |
